Religious Links Directory - Created in 1995, this is a large directory of web sites that contain information about different belief systems. It was originally meant to be a resource for Christians living in the United States, but it was later expanded to cover other religions. It now contains several thousand entries, which are organized into areas such as education, art reproductions, and religious texts. Among the represented religions are Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism. There are also lists of the most popular categories and most-visited sites. Because anyone may submit a new website to be listed, the directory will continue to grow.


Adherents.com - You can use this resource to find information about more than 4000 religious sects, denominations, and other groups from around the world. It even includes some groups that existed in the past but no longer survive. For each group, the site provides information about its history, the approximate number of adherents, and the main beliefs and practices. Most of the data is collected from government census reports, religious organization reports, and secondary literature which mentions adherent statistics. This is an especially valuable resource for anyone interested in the various faiths of the world.


Ancient Gods and Goddesses - You can read about more than 5000 ancient gods, goddesses, and other supernatural beings on this site. In addition to an alphabetical listing of all of them, there are sections for various regions and cultures. In other parts of the site you can find information about ancient history, myths and legends, and surviving ruins.

In addition to its very active forums, the site also offers devotional tools and commentary by clergy and spiritual guides. However, the site is not affiliated with any spiritual organization or religious movement. Its purpose is to encourage people of different philosophies and faiths to better understand each other.

Many of the articles were written by scholars and other experts, and were peer-reviewed by other scholars to guarantee high standards of objectivity and accuracy. In addition to the articles, the site contains numerous maps and charts, and special interactive tools, that can be helpful to the understanding of the relationships between different belief systems. There are also moderated forums for the discussion of various religions and related social issues. The site doesn't promote any particular faith, and the owners try to discourage biased or erroneous statements by contributors.
